This 8BitDo Ultimate 3-Mode setup guide covers the Black and White Xbox models currently listed on 8bitdo.com.pk. Connection steps differ between Xbox, Windows PC and supported mobile devices.
Before You Start
- Charge the controller before first use.
- Keep the included USB cable and 2.4GHz adapter nearby.
- Install supported 8BitDo software if you want to customize profiles, buttons or firmware.
Set Up on Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One
- Connect the controller to the Xbox console with the USB cable.
- Power on the console and controller.
- Allow Xbox to recognize the controller.
- Open a game and test the sticks, triggers, D-pad and rear paddles.
The Black and White Ultimate 3-Mode models use wired USB on Xbox. The included 2.4GHz adapter is intended for compatible Windows PCs, not wireless Xbox play.
Set Up on Windows 10 or Windows 11
- For wireless play, connect the included 2.4GHz adapter to your PC.
- Power on the controller and use the appropriate PC mode.
- For wired play, connect the controller directly with USB.
- Check Windows game-controller settings or launch a compatible game to confirm that inputs work.
Set Up on Android or Apple Devices
- Enable Bluetooth on the phone, tablet or supported Apple device.
- Put the controller into its supported Bluetooth pairing mode using the instructions in the manual.
- Select the controller from your device’s Bluetooth list.
- Open a controller-compatible game and test the inputs.
Charging Dock
The controller includes a charging dock. Keep the dock connected to power and place the controller on it after play sessions so it is ready for the next use.
Customize the Controller
Use supported 8BitDo Ultimate Software X features to configure button mapping, profiles, stick or trigger behavior where available, and supported firmware updates.
Troubleshooting Checklist
- Reconnect the USB cable or 2.4GHz adapter.
- Restart the controller and target device.
- Remove and re-pair Bluetooth on mobile.
- Check for supported firmware updates.
- Confirm you are using the correct connection method for your platform.
